I Would Like To Call It Beauty by Corinne Bailey-Rae

I know I've just blogged another Corinne Bailey-Rae song but I couldn't not post these lyrics, they are beautiful. And even more moving considering the death of her husband in 2008. Wahhh.

So young for death, we walk in shoes too bigBut you play it like a poet like you always didAnd I lay face upturned on the palm of God,Pushed on by the fingertips of dreamsThey haunted me, consoling me.

And I would like to call, call it beauty,Strained as love's become, it still amazes meAnd I would like to call it beauty,Beauty, beauty, beauty.

You slept a sigh like the angels speakAnd we danced into tomorrow on bleeding feetAnd I had thought that I would die hereBut you pushed me on,You pushed me on, you pushed me on.

Oh, and I would like to call, call it beauty,Strained as love's become, it still amazes meAnd I would like to call it beauty,Beauty, beauty, beauty.

You can keep it all locked up in your leaden chestOr you can lay mouth open on the water's edgeBut all your angels and your God will stitch and wash you.

Oh, I would like to call, call it beauty,Strained as love's become, it still amazes meAnd I would like to call it beauty,Beauty, beauty, beauty, beauty.

Butterfly by Corinne Bailey-Rae

After having loved and listened to this song for years and years, I finally came to pay attention to, and properly appreciate, the lyrics. Corinne Bailey-Rae wrote it for her mum and they radiate warmth and affection in a way that makes me want to give my mum a big hug.

In my mother's house
There's a photograph
Of a day gone past
Always makes me laugh.
There's a little girl
Wary of the world,
She got much to learn,
Get her fingers burned.

An affinity
Between you and me
Cause we're family.
Said that I'd be fine,
Gave me all your time
And I left your side
Like a butterfly.

Shower me with your love,
All of everyday,
You make the red rose sun
Shine on me.
Lift me up so high,
Watch me fly away.
Would you live your life
Like a butterfly.

In my mother's house
There was happiness,
I wrapped myself in it,
Was my chrysalis.
As my life unfolds,
See a pattern through
Of you protecting me
And I protecting you.

What was that you'd say?
Make your own mistakes
And when you're grown
Make sure that you remain the same.
Now I realise
What was on your mind
When I left your side
Like a butterfly.

Shower me with your love,
All of everyday,
You make the red rose sun
Shine on me.
Lift me up so high,
Watch me fly away.
Give me life
Like a butterfly.

Shower me with your love,
All of everyday,
You make the red rose sun
Shine on me.
Lift me up so high,
Watch me fly away.
Give me life
Like a butterfly.

The big 3 thousand, it has finally arrived. I feel this is what I've been working towards my whole life, and I'd like to thank my family and friends for being so supportive, the musicians and artists who have inspired me to reach this goal and last but not least my fans, because I couldn't have done it without you. I'm so full of happiness, I just don't know where to go from here. 4,000, I guess. To celebrate, here is a bearded dragon attacking, and then eating, a grape. Make sure you watch until the end... You will see why:

P.S. Extra special thanks to my dear friend Madeleine, who found me this video. Then demanded that I mention her. So really she's not so much of a friend as a pain in the arse, but thanks to her as well I guess. xoxoxoxoxox
